Pest Control Managed Alongside Your Cleaning
Pests contaminate food, damage stock and fabric, and spread disease. In a restaurant, shop or hotel a single sighting can cost a customer or a hygiene rating, so the aim is to catch problems early and keep a record of what was done.
Bayleaf FM provides pest control only to clients who already have a core cleaning contract with us. Your account manager arranges the survey, agrees the plan with you, books the visits with the specialist contractors who carry out the treatments, and keeps the reports with the rest of your site records. Our cleaning teams are often the first to notice droppings, gnawing or damaged packaging, and they report what they see so it can be dealt with early.
How We Manage Pest Control
01
A Plan Built From a Site Survey
Before any treatment, the site is surveyed: where food is stored and prepared, where waste is kept, how pests could get in and what the building is used for. From that, a plan is agreed with you covering the pests of concern, the places to be checked and how often the contractor visits.
A restaurant kitchen and an office are not the same risk, and the plan should show why it visits as often as it does.

02
Treatments Matched to the Pest
Rodents, cockroaches, flies and ants each need a different approach. The contractor chooses the method for the pest and the place, and tells us what was used and where, so it can be recorded.
Treated areas and monitoring points are noted so cleaning teams know to leave them as they are.

03
Records You Can Show an Inspector
Every visit is recorded: what was found, what was done and what is needed next. Those records are what an environmental health officer, landlord or insurer may ask to see, and they are kept with your other site records.
If you see something between visits, you tell your account manager once and they arrange the call-out.

04
Prevention Between Visits
Most infestations start small. Regular checks and monitoring points show early signs before they spread, and good housekeeping does the rest: food and waste stored properly, floors and corners kept clear, bins emptied on schedule.
Where the building needs proofing, such as gaps or damaged seals, we report it to the building owner or, where we manage maintenance for you, add it to the maintenance programme.

Pest Control FAQs
Common Questions About Pest Control
Why does a business need pest control?
Pests contaminate food, damage property and spread disease, so any business that stores food, handles stock or welcomes the public has a reason to manage them. In a London restaurant, hotel or shop, a single sighting can mean a failed inspection, a lost customer or a review that stays online. A plan with regular checks finds problems while they are small and cheap to fix, and it gives the business a record to show an environmental health officer. Waiting for a sighting usually costs more than preventing one.
What does commercial pest control include?
A commercial pest control service starts with a survey of the building: where food is kept, where waste is stored and how pests could get in. From that comes a plan agreed with you, covering the pests of concern, the places to be checked and the visits. Each visit is recorded, treatments are matched to the pest, and anything found between visits goes through one point of contact. For Bayleaf cleaning clients, the account manager arranges and manages all of this alongside the cleaning.
Who carries out the pest control treatments?
Specialist pest control contractors carry out the treatments, and Bayleaf manages them. The account manager books the survey and the visits, passes on what the cleaning teams notice, and keeps the reports alongside the other site records, so the client has one point of contact rather than several contractors. Bayleaf cleaners do not treat for pests themselves: their part is to keep the building clean, report signs they see and leave treated areas and monitoring points undisturbed.

How often should pest control be scheduled for commercial properties?
The frequency depends on the kind of premises and how risky they are, and the survey sets it. Premises that handle open food, such as a kitchen, are normally checked more often than an office or a shop, because food and waste attract pests. The plan is reviewed whenever a check finds activity, a kitchen opens or the way the building is used changes, so the schedule follows what is happening in the building, not a calendar.
What types of pests are commonly found in commercial properties?
Mice and rats, cockroaches, ants, flies and stored-product insects such as beetles and weevils are the pests most often found in commercial premises. Kitchens, bin stores, delivery areas and anywhere food is kept attract them most. Birds are a separate problem. Where pigeons have fouled a building, the specialist cleaning team removes the droppings, which is covered under pigeon guano removal, but keeping the birds away is separate from cleaning up after them.

What records come with pest control?
Every visit is recorded: what was found, what was treated, which monitoring points were checked and what is needed next. These records are what an environmental health officer, landlord or insurer may ask to see, and they are kept with the site's other records rather than left with the contractor. If a check finds a problem, it is logged against the site and followed up until it is closed, so a repeat issue shows up in the history.
Can I book pest control without a cleaning contract?
No. Pest control is arranged only where a site already has a main cleaning agreement with us, because the account manager and the cleaning teams run it within the one service. It is not sold on its own, and anyone who books only occasional one-off cleans does not qualify. If there is no cleaning agreement for the site yet, the way in is a cleaning quote. When that is in place, your account manager can then include pest control and run it beside the cleaning.
