Retail Cleaning in London

We clean shops and retail stores across London, from single high-street units to chains with stores in many boroughs: shop floors, entrances, fitting rooms, stockrooms, staff areas, washrooms and shop windows. Most of the work is done before you open or after you close, out of customers' way.

How a Retail Store Is Cleaned

A store has to look the same at 9am on Monday as it did when the area manager walked it on Friday, whatever the weekend's footfall.

Most of the dirt comes in through the door: grit and rainwater tracked over the entrance matting and down the main aisles, so entrances and walkways need the most attention. The heaviest cleaning is done before opening, when floors can be machine-scrubbed, fitting rooms reset and glass cleaned with no customers in the way. Stockrooms and back-of-house areas are where standards slip first, and cardboard or kit left in a walkway is also a fire-safety problem. In shopping centres, the centre's own rules decide when deliveries, bins and cleaning machines can move. For a chain, the test is consistency: the same standard in every store, checked the same way. We plan each store around its trading hours, its floors and its busiest weeks, from Christmas to the sales.

Meet Bayleaf Connect

Know Which Store Needs You First

An area manager cannot walk every shop before it opens. On every retail cleaning contract, Bayleaf Connect holds each store's audits: how the entrance, shop floor, fitting rooms and stockroom scored, which items are still open and who is on them.

You can see which store slipped this week and plan your visits around it, rather than hearing about it from a customer.

Shop Cleaning Across London

We clean shops across London, from Oxford Street and Regent Street to local high streets in every borough inside the M25, so a chain can put all its London stores under one cleaning contract. An area manager with ten stores needs one person who owns the whole estate: a named contract manager covers all your stores, and each store has its own site manager who knows its layout and its manager.

Checking Every Store the Same Way

Retail Cleaning Audits and Reporting

A chain needs proof that every store meets one standard, not a note saying the cleaners came. So every store gets an identical audit, and the scores can be read across the estate.

One Checklist for Every Store

Every store gets the same checklist: entrance and matting, shop floor, fitting rooms, tills, stockroom, staff room and washrooms. The store manager sees the scores as well as you, and you sign each audit off.

Issues Tracked to the Fix

A failed fitting room or a dusty stockroom becomes an open item with an owner. When the same fault turns up in three stores, it shows across the estate instead of sitting in one shop's emails.

Once a Month, the Whole Estate

Larger contracts also get a monthly review with their account manager, covering quality across the stores, spend and environmental reporting, so problems are dealt with before they reach a store visit.

Daily Retail Store Cleaning

A daily store clean covers the entrance and matting, the shop floor, fitting rooms, till points and counters, the stockroom, staff room and washrooms. Most of it is done before opening; in larger stores a cleaner stays on through the trading day for spills, washrooms and the entrance in wet weather.

Shop Window Cleaning

Shop windows pick up fingerprints, rain spots and street dirt every day, and a shopper sees them before anything else. Our own window cleaners do the display glass on both sides, with glass doors, balustrades and internal partitions, timed around window changes and opening hours.

Hard Floor Cleaning for Shops

Shop floors range from vinyl and ceramic tile to polished concrete, timber and stone, and each needs its own method. Entrances and main aisles wear fastest, so they are machine-scrubbed more often than the rest. Periodic deep cleans and polishing happen out of hours, and the floor is dry before the first customer walks in.

Questions From Store and Area Managers

Frequently Asked Retail Cleaning Questions

What does a retail store cleaning contract include?

A retail cleaning contract covers the entrance and matting, shop floor, fitting rooms, tills and counters, stockroom, staff areas and washrooms, cleaned before the store opens. Entrances and main aisles need the most work, because grit and rainwater come in through the door. Machine scrubbing is done while the floors are empty. Window cleaning, floor care and deep cleans are added as each store needs them, all under one contract for the chain; the price includes the materials and uniforms we bring.

Do you clean stockrooms and back-of-house areas in a shop?

Yes. Stockrooms, staff rooms, kitchenettes and washrooms are part of every retail store clean, and they are audited like the shop floor, because a dusty stockroom or a tired staff room is what an area manager finds on a surprise visit. Floors are swept and mopped, surfaces wiped, and rubbish removed. Stock stays where the store puts it. The cleaner works around shelving and delivery boxes, and a failed item on the audit stays open against that store until it is closed.
